Filly Unicorn Fakies
This is the story of the Filly Unicorn Fakies. Get cozy, its a longer one.
The original Filly Unicorn line launched in Feburary 2011 with 21 figures, with a few more characters and special figures being introduced later on. Growing up, besides Fairy, Unicorn was my absolute favorite series. In late 2024 i found out that Filly Fakies are a thing, and especially interesting to me was the fact that there was unicorn Fakies!! I have now managed to collect all 7 of the fake unicorns, so let's dive into it.
These Fakies are produced by the same company that produced the original, branded Filly figures, Weijun. Since the Filly brand has been sold, they can't produce Filly anymore - but since these are recolors / frankensteined-together figures, they technically don't count as Filly.
Weijun is a B2B (Business to Business) toy manufacturer, specialising in ODM (original design manufacturing, aka they make the toys and others brand them, the case for Fakies) and OEM (original equipment manufacturing, aka they make the toys based on your design, which is how the original Filly molds were made). This explains why the Fakies are made from various Filly series' molds! They have called these Fakies "Chubby Unicorns".
On the Weijun website you can find these Fakies, among other fake Fillies, in their catalog. Since the factory only sells B2B, these Fakies land in all sorts of branded products, for example Gachapon machines, candy surprise bags etc. You can really customize the packaging here.
These unicorn Fakies specifically were only branded by one brand as far as i know, the russian "Vitamin Toys",
who put them in cardboard surprise boxes with Candy.
I could only find these photos on a website from a russian toy collector website, so i will link them here!
Vitamin Toys no longer seems to carry these specifically.
So in short, these Fakies are made in China and distributed in Russia, so it was really not easy to obtain them.
With the mystery of their existence and distribution solved, here's some photos of the figures with their actual mold comparison!
